These gray and raisin black colors to create depth and differentiation of the shadows, face, and hair.
TYPOGRAPHY
Didot has a precision from its high stroke contrast and a dual sense of elegance. Much like Lucy Liu who commits herself in building her acting craft and who also is gracious when speaking in interviews.
I researched words that describe her character, career, and quotes that directly come from hers.

Chose a headshot image of her and converted it to a high contrast black and white. This became a reference for tracing the words.
DIGITAL DRAFT
The high contrast image of her guided me in shaping the words to help shape her facial and hair features.
FINAL DESIGN
Made some changes to condense the hair and arms with smaller text sizes. This helped bring the colors out more.
