J.J. Umbra is an author who writes horror stories and is searching for a book cover for the new novel.
PROJECT
This is a concept book cover design to illustrate the Salem Witch village plot visually without giving away too much context.
SOLUTION
I sourced an image that was fitting for the plot setting and adjusted the colors to give a more eerie tone. The typography choice also help create a classic yet uneasy feeling each time the readers view it.

COLORS
The dark red color gives a feeling of uneasiness while the nude color closely resembles old print color to reflect the time period of the story.
TYPOGRAPHY
Trattatello gave the book title the texture of calligraphy to match that time period before. EB Garamond was a legible pairing font choice for the back cover body copy.
